Alpine Strawberries

Ukrainian has two words for strawberry. One is for the large commercial ones you buy in the store. The other is for the small wild ones you have to pick yourself. Alpine strawberries, I’m sure, would use the second one word for strawberry.

I can usually get to these before the bugs and it’s less heartbreaking when I get there too late. These little sweet gems feel mythical when munch through a handful of them still warm from the garden.
